The multiple ruin sites spread throughout Sicily inspired these photographs. Many discoveries and experiments were undertaken on this exploration.
First of all it marked the first time in over 15 years that I tried to use colored film instead of black and white. Secondly, and for me the most surprising was the unearthing of texts (or at least simple letter shapes). These were true findings because they only appeared after I printed the first contacts. The double exposure and overlapping technique had always created new patterns and rhythms; but never new forms.
This led to many exciting possibilities obvious in the projects section.
